How to Apply for Community Grants

The promise of Susan G. Komen® is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2016,  Komen West Virginia is investing $205,000. in 10 local community programs. The Affiliate funds non-duplicative, community-based breast health education and breast cancer screening, diagnostic, and treatment projects for the medically underserved in West Virginia. In addition to funding local outreach projects, Susan G. Komen® runs one of the most innovative, responsive grant programs in breast cancer today. Our Affiliate is proud to have contributed more than $610,000 toward research since 2000.

2015 Community Profile

Applications will be accepted for breast health or breast cancer screening, treatment, education, or support project in West Virginia starting November 1, 2016 for the fiscal year April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018. Projects that specifically address the objectives outlined in the “Funding Priorities” in the application will be given priority.

Attendance at a grant writing workshop and GeMS training is not required for all applicants, however helpful.  The will be a Grant Workshop help at The Inn in Charles Town on September 17, 2016 as well as a Grant Workshop at Bream Presbyterian Church (home of the Komen WV office) on November 4, 2016 from 11am – 1pm in Charleston.
